Paul Skenes has received tons of praise this season. The latest is coming from Aaron Judge.
On Tuesday night, Skenes will face off with Judge for the first time in his major league career at the MLB All-Star Game when the 22-year-old takes the mound for his start.
These two have been among the most impressive in baseball this season. The first 11 starts of Skenes’ career have been as close to perfect as you can have, posting a 1.90 ERA with 89 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP. Judge, on the other hand, is hitting .306 with a league-leading 34 home runs and a 1.112 OPS.
Ahead of the game, Judge took part in the MLB All-Star Game media availability on Monday, providing his own opinion on Skenes.
“I’ve got a chance to watch a couple of his games the past couple weeks since he got called up,” Judge said at the media availability, via Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Andrew Destin’s video. “It’s special stuff man, electric stuff. You can talk about the velocity on his pitches and what he does but the guy’s a pitcher, man. “He can work all three, four, five of his pitches. Throw it to every part of the zone any count. He’s a complete pitcher, man. So it’s going to be fun.

“I think we’re all excited to see him on the mound, see him do his thing. Especially in his first All-Star Game, getting the nod to be the starter, it’s impressive man, so definitely looking forward to facing him.”
Judge will bat fourth in the American League lineup on Tuesday night as Skenes will takes the bump. Fans can watch the 2024 MLB All-Star Game at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
