The Pittsburgh Steelers have more than enough remaining cap space in order to make more moves this offseason. With training camp rapidly approaching, is Pittsburgh going to make another splash on the defensive end?
The Steelers find ways to win. Last season, they went 10-7 and ended up falling short of the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the playoffs. Although Pittsburgh managed to make the playoffs, they have areas where they can improve.
Pittsburgh ranked 25th in total offense last year, so the signing of Russell Wilson and trade for Justin Fields should lead to a more adept offense. Pittsburgh has also added some receiving depth with Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins.
On the other side of the field, the Steelers defense managed to be top ten in points against while being in the bottom third of the league in yards allowed. Trading for Donte Jackson and signing Patrick Queen are two major additions to the defense, but another player who has been mentioned as a fit for the Steelers is Adoree Jackson. The former Giants cornerback is somehow still not on a National Football League roster and the Steelers were listed as one of the top landing spots for Jackson by Sportnaut’s Matt Johnson.
“A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Adoree Jackson has battled inconsistency and durability issues during his career,” Johnson said. “However, there’s some reason for hope from last season. In his final six games last season, Jackson allowed just a 57.8 percent completion rate with an 81.4 QB rating when targeted in coverage. Capable of playing the nickel or outside, Jackson is a potential starter who at the very least would provide excellent depth for a secondary. Adoree Jackson landing spots: Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders.”

It’s surprising to see Jackson still available, but with prices expected to drop as training camp gets closer, it couldn’t hurt the Steelers to add more defensive depth.
